Sponsorship Levels:
- DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. SPONSOR- $10,000
(January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was the most famous leader of the American civil rights movement, a political activist, a Baptist minister, and was one of America's greatest orators. In 1964, King became the youngest man to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (for his work as a peacemaker, promoting nonviolence and equal treatment for different races). On April 4, 1968, King was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee. - CESAR CHAVEZ SPONSOR - $5,000
(1927-1993) Farm worker rights organizer; founded United Farm Workers (UFW). UFW increased public awareness of migrant worker’s cause. - JOHN ECHOHAWK SPONSOR - $2,500
Co-founder and Executive Director since 1977 of the Native American Rights Fund (NARF). Member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, with over 30 years of work for justice for Indian tribes and to find ways to correct centuries-old injustices. NARF was organized in 1970 to provide legal assistance to Native Americans on cases of national significance. - HARVEY MILK SPONSOR - $1,000
(1930-1978) First openly gay man elected to public office in U.S. (San Francisco City Council, 1977); assassinated in 1978. After he defied the governing class of San Francisco in 1977 to become a member of its board of supervisors, many people — straight and gay — had to adjust to a new reality he embodied: that a gay person could live an honest life and succeed. - ELEANOR ROOSEVELT PARTNER - $500
(1884-1962) First Lady of the United States (1933-1945); head of U.N. Human Rights Commission that drafts Declaration of Human Rights (1946-1947); civil rights and human rights activist. - PATSY MINK FRIENDS OF CAERP - $250
(1927-2002) Feminist activist, first Asian-American woman as well as woman of color to be elected to Congress. A leader in the passage of Title IX and named NOW Woman of Vision in June, 2002.
